“Goal Setting and Motivation – Lessons from the Sahara”
It covers;
- The importance of setting goals
- How to set usable goals
- Understanding motivation
- Dealing with challenges
- Overcoming setbacks
At the end of the session the delegates will understand all of the above, have discussed the application of all the lessons in the toughest circumstances and had an opportunity to question how they can apply those lessons in their own business and personal lives. They will be left with plenty to reflect on for the future and a method of taking control of their own lives in a way that many would not think possible.
Colin is the founder and visionary leader of Gameplans. A Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, with a Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching and 24 years’ experience of leadership as a Royal Navy officer, Colin is the Development Director at Gameplans and heads up a team of experienced coaches. His Royal Navy career included front-line operations as a Weapon Engineer in HMS Cumberland and HMS Sutherland and 3 training roles; as a sea-going trainer/consultant for Flag Officer Sea Training. As the Deputy Head of Leadership at the Britannia Royal Naval College and most recently as the founding Commanding Officer of the Royal Navy Leadership Academy, responsible for the life-long leadership development of all officers and ratings.
His final appointment was within the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall where he worked as part of a small team developing strategic level plans for the UK response to emerging events. During the “Arab Awakening” of early 2011 he was responsible for developing evacuation plans for UK nationals who have made their home in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as providing advice to the the Prime Minister on the impact of the uprisings across that region and on contingency plans for natural disasters and more widespread unrest.
In recent years Colin has been an active fund-raiser for a South West children’s charity, through the medium of physical endurance challenges and has a few more adventures up his sleeve.
