Investment Adds up to New App

Simpkins Edwards has launched a new mobile app, designed to keep business and individuals up to date with the latest financial news as well as providing advice and information on tax savings.

The app is the result of a significant investment in the firm’s communications technology, which also includes commissioning a mobile version of its website and producing a Kindle-friendly version of its regular e-newsletter, Addition. The investment forms part of the company’s client services strategy, which aims to promote greater mobile communications and rely less on printed and desk-based methods.

The Simpkins Edwards app is available to download for free for Apple and Android devices including mobile phones and tablet computers. It contains financial news feeds from MSE and Reuters, as well real time information on tax savings schemes for users to access instantly. It will also include regularly updated tax calculators and tables, which will allow the user to input basic business information and calculate the predicted tax payable in particular scenarios. Clients will also be able to contact Simpkins Edwards at the touch of a button for assistance wherever they are, as well as find out the latest news and events from the accountancy firm.

“Research shows that one in four people now access information online via their mobile devices and feedback from our clients indicates that they don’t want to be chained to their desktop computers,” commented Mary Jane Campbell, Partner at the firm’s Exeter office. “We have lots of rural business clients who are, often quite literally, out in the field most of the time and struggle to find the time to sit down at a desk or dig out their hard copy tax tables. Likewise, most of our other business clients are on the go all day at meetings and our private clients have their own day jobs to contend with, as well as their personal finances. This new app means that people can access up-to-date, useful information when they want and where they want, with no desk-based restrictions.“
