Nibley Music Festival 2012

July 23, 2012

Business Network SW delighted, along with Business Network SW members auditel, Welcome Telecom and EBRS, to have sponsored Nibley this year

Mud, glorious mud!

The festival was preceded by the wettest June on record so no surprises that we were in for a wet day! Set up was more difficult and time-consuming and there were very real worries about campers and parking, but with lots of help from volunteers and a large dose of Nibley spirit the Festival got under way – bigger and better than last year.

This is just the car park!

Music!

The standard of music at this year’s festival was phenomenal, on both the Main and Renishaw stages. Headline acts The Christians, Dodgy and The Selecter were just as good as we hoped and we showed them what a party-loving crowd Nibley folk are and lesser known bands proved just as popular.

Merriment!

Our fabulous, famous and free Craft Tent was incredibly popular with children of all ages, as were all the kids workshops, and a wide range of stalls kept festival shoppers happy. And wasn’t the food delicious! Also worth a mention are the local organisations’ and charities’ stalls which all add to the Nibley festival experience – Pimm’s, tea and cakes, face and nail painting, tattoos, hair spraying, bouncy balls and bubble guns galore!

Money and fund-raising

Most of you know that the festival is organised by unpaid volunteers. As always if there is any surplus from the day this will be donated to charities and good causes, all of which are local or in the developing world with local connections. We are also able to support local charities and fund-raising by donating to groups able to undertake specific jobs for us in the run up to the festival and on the day. Along with the many groups raising money through various stalls on the day, this means that our festival frolics genuinely are doing some good – thank you!
