Four 2012 trends we expect to see continuing and developing in 2013
Search Engine Optimisation has undergone significant changes in 2012. Google has changed the way it indexes websites, with even more emphasis on Social Media, unique content and user interaction. Digital Marketing is really going to be the watchword for 2013 as integrating your SEO, Google Adwords, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, email marketing etc becomes even more important.
Amazon, eBay & other marketplaces are continuing to grow in dominance, despite their “tax” issues. Reports show that 28% of ecommerce passes through the major marketplaces, partly because of the high levels of trust. Integrating your ecommerce facility to take advantage of this virtual footfall is going to be an increasing trend for 2013.
Increasing profitability by improving the work process has been a developing theme in 2012. With ecommerce orders coming through in greater numbers than ever, taking action to increase efficiency is vital. Integrating with SAGE, QuickBooks, EPOS or warehouse systems is a great way of preventing duplication of work and brings a number of additional benefits.
PCI Compliance, or Payment Card Industry Compliance. Rather surprisingly, this is not making huge waves yet but is potentially one of the big stories for retailers on or offline in 2013. The PCI is taking huge steps to improve the security of credit card payments, however this could result in huge fee increases and/or passing the risk of card transactions onto retailers.
