Sawadeekaaah from Phuket – The latest from Thailand – the final weeks of Megan’s trip!
As Megan’s trip enters it’s last 3 week – (where have the previous 10 gone!) an update via email.
We get the emails when Megan has access to the internet via a PC so only sporadically – the major way we have stayed in contact is via text and perhaps the best way is Whatsapp – I’ll take their explanation as it is very concise – “WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.
In addition to basic messaging WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages”
Anyway through this we have been able to see photo’s of the fantastic places that Megan has been to and some of the experiences she and Sophie are having. The email is from 5th April
“Currently sat in a hostel in Phuket town, it’s rather nice here offer free use of computers to their guests! Wooo! It has taken Soph and I 32 hours to get here from Koh Chang (Elephant Island) it was a nightmare! We were supposed to arrive in Phuket at 11:30am but didn’t get here till 3:30pm.
Since my last email and blog update we have been on an eastern island called Koh Chang, it is a beautiful island and we did very little! We have a few pictures and stuff but not enough for another blog update so we’re waiting for a bit more stuff to go on!
Roger and Za met us in Koh Chang, they were staying on a posh resort whereas we were staying in a small bungalow. Our first bungalow had a good toilet but a bug infestation (there were holes everywhere) so we moved to one with no holes and no sink and no bugs! It was much better! We spent a day on the beach which was lovely though we did turn a bit lobster.
We bought snorkels and have done a bit of lazy snorkelling however we haven’t been in the greatest spots for it yet, going to do a snorkel day trip on one of the islands! So excited.
While in Koh Chang we hired out a kayak which was so much fun and paddled our way to a little island which was so lovely! Really enjoyed being out on the open sea!
Today we are organising where we are staying for the rest of our time in Thailand, we’ve booked hotels, bungalows and resort rooms! Living it large! Can’t wait to properly relax and just island hop! We’re going to leave some of our bags here at the hostel in storage so it’s a bit easier to get around on the islands and plan to stay here one more night before we go on to bangkok to do a huge shopping trip and see some of bangkoks sights then go home. It’s scary how close it is… i’m looking forward to seeing everyone not so much the whole going back to work and cold weather though.
Last night i slept in leggings, a cardigan and two covers because the aircon was so cold and in a hostel you can’t turn it off… how am i going to cope when i get back?! especially if the weather is all weird and it’s snowing in april!? eeek.
I apologise to everyone for the erratic english and spelling mistakes. I have given up on English since teaching it to 70 students on daily basis haha! I’ll have to get back in the game when i get home! Until then you’ll just have to cope!”
Since the 5th April Megan has been to – the photo’s are from Google images – how you get them from Whatsapp to PC is beyond me
