Anon. makes a guest appearance at Exeter Business Network’s June event!

June 6, 2013
“A gossip talks about other, a bore talks about himself.  A brilliant conversationalist talks about others” Anon
Whoever it was who said this could well have been talking about networking!
And at the Exeter Business Network event on June 5th at Westpoint Conference Centre there was a tremendous and terrific amount of  conversation, energy and enthusiasm!
This room prepared and ready at 9.30am
A room full of anticipation!

A room full of anticipation!

The event opened with a seminar from Listen2Win
Listen 2 Win features Exeter-based England and GB blind football players Robin Williams and Keryn Seal, who both boast experience at the elite level of sporting competition including the London 2012 Paralympic Games.  They weer joined by Dan James the GB 5-a side goalkeeper

International level blind football, like business, is highly reliant on effective communication skills. The seminar was an introduction to show how Listen 2 Win can help any business by highlighting areas for improvement in a company’s communication, particularly in the art of listening skills.

The attendees were taken through a series of exercises that highlighted techniques used in the game – one of these had 10 people all blind folded being set the task to arrange themselves in ascending house number against a wall 3 meters away- the arranged line was 1,3,5,5,5,8,H,L,80,97! (The H & L as the houses had no numbers!).  This exercise demonstrated the need to listen, to work together and support each other – literally as when you have one of your senses taken away you certainly become more vulnerable.

If you didn’t get the chance to attend the seminar which was great then details on Listen2Win are here
THE networking lunch created and served by Posh Nosh was wonderful and acted as a great catalyst to the conversations around the tables.  Each led by a table host!

Heading to #BNSW @ Westpoint shortly. Looking forward to seminar by @Blind_Seal @MrRMWilliams Then a training session on being a Table Host!
