Conversation that can lead to potential opportunity with BBC1
With your phone number out there and a willingness to have a conversation then it is amazing what opportunities arise.
The following is the result of one such conversation that I had this week – rather than try and paraphrase it what you see is email that I received…
Hi Sean,
Thank you very much for taking the time to have a chat with me yesterday, it was lovely to speak with you.
Wall to Wall Television is one of the UK’s leading production companies, with a reputation for producing ground-breaking, intelligent and sensitively made television content. Programmes include the internationally acclaimed genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are?, and the hit family reunion series Long Lost Family, as well as award-winning TV drama The Girl, and entertainment phenomenon The Voice UK.
We are now in the process of making a new series for BBC 1, ‘The Gift’ (working title) which is a programme that will help people try and make amends for something that they have done or express their gratitude to someone that has changed their life. For many people it is often not possible to do this themselves – the person they want to thank may be a stranger and they don’t know how to find them – or perhaps they can’t find the courage to make an approach alone.
With a team of professional mediators, psychologists and experts in tracing people, the programme will help put these people in touch, help them find a gesture or gift that represents their feelings and support them through a meeting. I have attached a background information document that explains the programme in a bit more detail. I have also attached our poster which outlines the series and how people can get in touch should it appeal to them
We’re currently trying to find people who may need our help hence being in contact with you at Business Network South West. We hope to include a range of different stories within the series and I’ve been looking for the inspirational stories of individuals who have been successful or turned their lives around. The programme may appeal to those who are able to draw on particular moments and people significant to them and would now like the chance to say sorry or thank you. In the business world it could be the kind gesture that helped someone on the road to success or the opportunity to make amends where success has come at a cost.
I was wondering whether you had any thoughts or perhaps advice on how to go about getting in touch with people who might need our help. Are you aware of cases where successful business men or women have been helped along the way or made sacrifices to get to their goal? Perhaps you know of people with whom the issues I have mentioned may strike a chord?
It would be fantastic if you’re able to forward this information on to your network to see if it might be of interest. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch should you have any thoughts on who this might appeal to or if you need any further information.
Many thanks,
Sonia
