Dining in the Dark

We are writing to you today to invite you to a very special and exciting gourmet dining experience taking place on 11th, 12th and 13th November 2014 in aid of WESC Foundation. Following the success of our inaugural Dining in the Dark evening, which took place at Topsham’s Salutation Inn on 1st May this year, we will be extending the event over three nights to enable more people to enjoy this unique occasion.
As the name suggests, Dining in the Dark is no ordinary foodie event. Not only will you get to enjoy three sumptuous courses*, each lovingly created by the Salutation Inn’s Head Chef Tom Williams-Hawkes and designed to tantalize your taste buds, but you will do so in complete darkness. Each course will be perfectly matched to a different wine courtesy of Bibendum Wines, so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy.
The evening will start with champagne and canapés on arrival at the Salutation Inn, where you will get to mingle with your fellow diners. You will then be guided by four visually impaired guides/waitresses – Tracy Wilson, Margaret Rice, Jenny Langley and Jo Fishwick – into a specially adapted room to ensure all elements of light have been eliminated. Diners will be encouraged to re-evaluate the notions of taste and smell through a delightful gastronomic event.
Aimed at raising both funds for WESC Foundation as well as awareness of the challenges faced by those with a visual impairment, the event promises to be an experience to remember.

Tickets cost £75 and all profits go to supporting the work of the WESC Foundation, which provides aninnovative, learner-centred approach and applies the latest techniques designed to transform the lives of our young people and adults.

*The menu will not be revealed prior to the event, however a vegetarian option is available on request and please do let us know in advance if you have special dietary requirements.
