Mediation Live!
You may have heard about mediation. You will certainly know something about conflict but have you ever watched a mediator it in action. A ringside seat is now your opportunity!
John Hind, Director and Founder of Compass Resolution Mediation and his two colleagues, Bob Prior and Pippa Basset are going to put their heads on the block and run a mediation role play, for all to see.
You will have the opportunity to watch a workplace mediation unfold  before your very eyes.
You will have the chance to ask the participants questions while they are still in role, gaining insights into how people behave under pressure.
You will see how John manages the conflict and moves the participants towards a successful outcome with a range of interventions.
So, don’t miss the opportunity to be a mediator for a moment or two and see how it all works in practice.
We look forward to seeing you there – more reasons to attend this seminar below

More reasons to attend the seminar

As this is national dispute resolution week it seems appropriate to ask yourselves; why choose mediation when you separate rather than the legal process?

There are 3 compelling reasons;

Your children

Protect your children not your ego. The stress of separation and divorce can bring out the worst in parents resulting in a power struggle which puts the children firmly in the middle when all they want is for you, their parents to sort things out ‘like adults’

All too often the father feels controlled, undermined and powerless by what he perceives as the mother ‘being difficult and controlling’ with the amount of contact, whereas the mother feels frustrated and angry by what she perceives as the father’s unreliability and refusal to communicate.

A recipe for conflict only made worse by the legal system’s tendency to exaggerate and polarise these differences.

Your money

The cost of mediation runs into a few hundred pounds compared with many £1000’s of the court process. The fact is that most ‘ordinary people’ cannot afford to go to court.

Also, isn’t it more sensible to save this money to put into more important things such as a new home for yourself and the children?

If you or your partner qualify for legal aid you will receive about £400 of free mediation information meetings and mediation. The whole process could end up being free or perhaps costing just a few hundred pounds.

Your stress.

Isn’t separation and divorce stressful enough without the added stress of court proceedings?

The amount of stress is in direct proportion to the lack of control and uncertainty separating couples often feel under so why handover over all the control and power to a judge when they have the opportunity to retain the power to make their own decisions together? Now that’s a good plan!

No one said that separation is easy but why make it more difficult and stressful than it already is.

You can begin by making the right decision to find out more about mediation at a mediation information meeting followed by a commitment to reach your own decisions and sort things out together for the sake of your children, your pockets and your stress!

Everything to gain, nothing to lose by finding out more
