Good listeners popular at Bristol Business Network’s May event……
“A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while, he knows something” – Wilson Misner*
Certainly true for all those that attended the event on 20th May at Old Down Manor.
The event began with a superb seminar hosted by David Doughty of Excellencia – titled “Social Media for Beginners” – David clearly demonstrated with numerous examples how he successfully markets his business, engages his followers, shares insights, creates content using Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook – brought to life with David sharing real data on how he has done this and how it can be replicated in your business. From getting 1,00 followers on Twitter in 3 weeks, to getting your LinkedIn profile to work effectively for you and even how Facebook is generating opportunities – a 75 minutes bursting with great advice and tips!

The networking lunch that followed brought conversation, energy and enthusiasm together with a fantastic 2 course lunch – compliments to the Chef!
As each person delivered their 3 minute presentation to the others on their hosted table connections, knowledge, opportunities, expertise, perhaps a supplier and one to ones were being discussed. The additional question asked was – “Who would be the one person (alive or dead) you would invite to dinner and why?”, giving an insight into the people there as people and not solely “business people”!
The table I was sat on had a real mix of people -some I’d heard of and some I’d not – some I could find on Google and others I couldn’t – hence the empty chairs! When they are all sat together what a discussion there would be! Among those at the table
Those attending were then enlightened, educated and entertained by Peter Prater – QTAC Payroll Software and Outsourcing– into the vital importance of payroll and ensuring that with RTI, AE, SSP, SMP, AML, AEO, AVC, PAYE, SAYE all factors (and that’s just the one’s Peter mentioned!) you pay the right people at the right time the right amount each and every time.
The next event is 17th June at Mercure Holland House Hotel and Spa – download and share the details here – Fabulous seminar, super location plus great conversations and connections to be made!
